How to Wash Thermal Underwear So It Lasts a Decade

Technical base layers are hard-working, so they deserve a gentle routine. Wash at 30–40°C on a mild cycle with a normal liquid detergent. Skip the fabric softener entirely — it coats the fibres and clogs the very channels that wick sweat away. Same story with bleach. Turn the garment inside out to protect the printed and brushed surfaces, and wash it with similar colours. Tumble dry low or, better, line dry out of harsh sun; the elastane that gives the fit its stretch is what heat and sunlight attack first. If a care label allows ironing, iron on the reverse on low heat. Do this and the wicking, the reflectivity and the shape survive hundreds of cycles. Our fabric is tested beyond 3,000 Martindale anti-pilling cycles — the washing habits above are simply how you let that testing pay off.
